Questions
to the President of the SCC – French
kennel club. This
letter begins with a misunderstanding since it affirms that the Parson Jack
Russell terrier breed is divided into two variaties with different heights,
whereas in fact there are two different breeds that have been recognized (see
the FCI classification that is different for
both breeds !) : Standard
n° 339 : Parson Russell Terrier : 31 to 38 cm (this breed has been
definitely recognized by the FCI). Standard
n° 345 : Jack Russell Terrier : 25 to 30 cm (australian breed that
can only win CAC) I
remind you that if first of all the Reverend Jack Russell Terrier (now called
Parson Russell Terrier) existed in a range with a big amplitude, it was only a tolerance
before the situation is clarified. The
FCI decision to recognize the Parson Russell Terrier and the Jack Russell
terrier as two different breeds with two different standards, that are
attributed to two different countries, explains us that we absolutely cannot
consider that they are two variaties of a same breed. The
french club’s policy, reinforced by the SCC stands, goes to the opposite
direction and inevitably drives to produce dogs of a middle type between the
both breeds. The
decision to fix the maximum height to 36 cm excludes moreover dogs that
correspond to the FCI breed standard n° 339 (PRT). Indeed, this one expressly
allows a 38 cm height. Thus these dogs won’t be considered as pure-bred dogs
although they are in all the other countries. -
Give
up my kennel’s name and produce Parsons that won’t be considered as
pure-bred dogs in France but that will correspond to the international standard ? -
Relocate
my kennel in a foreign country ? -
Produce
mixed-type dogs that won’t be recognized at an international scale ? Faithfully Chantal
